The practicalities are simple. Advanced Air check-in is at Gate C1 of the Sunport's commuter gates, on the Departures Level. Arrive an hour before wheels-up, have bags checked at least 30 minutes out, and know that rental-car counters and rideshare are steps away when you land.

That's much of what this gateway is for — the Sunport carries New Mexico's mainline network. Advanced Air tickets are booked separately from other carriers, so build in a comfortable buffer and re-check any bags with your onward airline.
Do I need a rental car in Albuquerque?
For the full weekend, yes — the tram, the petroglyphs and the North Valley all want wheels, and the counters are at the airport. If you're only doing Old Town, Downtown and Nob Hill, rideshare covers it easily.
Red or green?
The official state question. Both are correct; ordering both is called 'Christmas,' and it's the local default. The Frontier, Sadie's and El Modelo will all take that order without blinking.
What's the deal with the Balloon Fiesta?
The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta fills the sky with 500-plus balloons for nine days every early October — the city's biggest week by far. Flights, hotels and rental cars all tighten around it, so book well ahead if your trip touches those dates.
Why fly to Silver City instead of driving?
There's no interstate to Silver City — the drive is about 4.5 hours of remote two-lane highway each way. The flight does it in about an hour, up to 17 times a week in each direction, which is what makes same-day medical, legal and business trips possible.
