When I set out to create Advanced Air, my goal was to provide our customers with unique and seamless travel experiences that connect them to incredible destinations. One of our newest routes from Hawthorne to Merced epitomized this mission, serving as a gateway to the stunning Yosemite National Park. This summer, my family and I decided to take this journey ourselves, testing the ease and accessibility of our service.

The Journey Began

Our adventure began early in the morning, leaving our home in the South Bay and arriving at JetCenterLA at Hawthorne Airport just 45 minutes before our flight. The convenience of this small airport was unparalleled. We parked the car, checked in our luggage, and had time to enjoy a coffee and snack in the Advanced Air lounge. The friendly staff made us feel at ease, and the whole process was seamless.

Boarding the plane felt more like stepping into a private jet than a commercial flight. The personalized attention from our crew made all the difference. They ensured we were comfortable and well-informed about the flight. My wife Kirsten said, “It feels like you’re getting a private experience for the cost of a commercial airline ticket.”

A Scenic Flight

The flight to Merced took about an hour. As we ascended through the clouds, the sun began to rise, casting a golden hue over the landscape. The views were breathtaking, offering a unique perspective of California’s diverse topography. Kirsten remarked, “You can’t beat that view. Nobody else gets to see the sunrise like this.”

From Merced to Yosemite

Upon landing in Merced, we easily transferred to the YARTS bus, which took us directly into Yosemite National Park. The bus ride was comfortable and scenic, allowing us to relax and enjoy the journey. The YARTS service is a fantastic option for those looking to avoid the hassle of driving and parking in the park. Reservations are recommended, especially during peak seasons, to ensure a spot on the bus.

Arriving at AutoCamp

Our destination was AutoCamp, a unique glamping experience located just outside Yosemite. The two-hour bus ride brought us to this charming retreat, where we were greeted with the sight of sleek Airstream trailers nestled among the trees. The accommodations were both luxurious and rustic, providing the perfect base for our adventures. Dylan, our eldest daughter, loved staying in the Airstream trailer at AutoCamp, saying, “It made camping so much more comfortable.” Peyton, our younger daughter, couldn’t get enough of swimming in the Merced River inside the park.

Exploring Yosemite

Yosemite’s beauty was truly awe-inspiring. We spent our days hiking, swimming, and exploring the park’s many wonders. One of the highlights was floating down the Merced River, a serene experience that offered a different perspective of the park. The ease of getting around with the YARTS bus made our trip even more enjoyable, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the natural beauty without worrying about transportation logistics.

Over the next year, I plan to complete several more Yosemite trips using Advanced Air, each time testing different travel options, from comparing YARTS buses to renting a car, and staying in various accommodations.
